I met Gregg at a digital meet up in Glasgow -RookieOven Meetup in Glasgow
In introducing ourselves to each other, Greg described how he was in Digital signage and I mentioned that I managed Canyoning.co.uk , it was then that Gregg passionately recounted a past Canyoning experience, I was truly blown away by how intensely Gregg recalled his Canyoning experience – so I asked him if he could write it down for a guest blog and here it is. The power of communication and Canyoning.
Gregg O’Malley – Canyoning
They say you only live once, right? If you believe this to be true then you just have to do canyoning.
I actually didn’t know what to expect when a friend organised our canyoning trip as part of a stag party. I sort of imagined that we’d be handheld down some canyon with little in the way of any real “action” – oh and I’m totally at the opposite end of the scale from an adrenaline junky. However, it turns out that my cynicism was rather misguided! There was hardly a minute that didn’t get that endorphin rush that makes you know you are alive. If you’ve been to a water park and know the feeling you get when you sit on that first ride and let it just take over, it’s exactly like that but not in some fabricated landscape, instead it’s happening in a natural environment carved out millions of years ago.
I can testify that you will create memories that will stay with you forever. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of making a jump and having time to ponder “why haven’t I hit the water yet” – just resist the temptation to look down!
It’s also an amazing bonding experience. The feeling that as a group you’re are all in it together allows you to be able to share these memories with each other for years to come which has been as important as any temporary adrenaline-fuelled rush.
Canyoning is always my first recommendation to anyone looking for a group activity whether it be a just group of friends looking to get away, a stag party or a works away day. Just to it, you’ll not regret it.
